X-ray Science Division Strategic Plan |
The X-ray Science Division (XSD) Strategic Plan reflects the mission “to enable APS users to perform world class research using x-rays." This plan provides a set of objectives that address the challenges that XSD faces to achieve this mission now, during the next five years and beyond. The plan is revised yearly with the current document being found here. |
X-ray Science Technologies Strategic Plan |
The X-ray Science Technologies Section within XSD develops the technical infrastructure in optics, detectors, controls, engineering, and data analysis/management necessary to enable cutting edge research on APS beamlines. The plan is revised periodically with the current version found here. Comments for future revisions should be directed to Alec Sandy. |
X-ray Science Division Scientific Computing Plan |
The X-ray Science Division maintains a regularly updated plan to guide its efforts in scientific computing. The plan is updated yearly with the current document found here. Comments for future revisions should be directed to Nicholas Schwarz or Alec Sandy.

The XSD Beamline Instrumentation Group provides mechanical engineering technical support to XSD beamlines. The group's strategy reflects the priorities of the XSD Strategic Plan and of the planned APS Upgrade. The plan is revised periodically with the current version found here. Comments for future revisions should be directed to Mike Fisher. |
Beamline Controls Strategy |
The XSD Beamline Controls group develops software and electronics hardware for XSD beamlines, serving the common needs of APS researchers. The group strategy is aligned with the XSD Strategic Plan and with the upcoming APS Upgrade. The plan is revised periodically with the current version found here. Comments for future revisions should be directed to Joe Sullivan. |
Nanopositioning Support Lab |
Nanopositioning techniques present an important capability to support the state-of-the-art synchrotron radiation instrumentation for the APS operations. To facilitate the development of nanopositioning techniques, the APS has equipped laboratories for nanopositioning devices assembly and characterization. The APS nanopositioning support lab is located on the first floor of Building 401. The plan is revised periodically with the current version found here. Comments for future revisions should be directed to Deming Shu. |
