Argonne uses a "career framework" for all regular, non-union employees. The career framework has four different elements, which when combined define an employee’s career and compensation opportunities at the Laboratory.
Links to worksheets that provide a framework for documenting how a new position should be classified and that can be used to help evaluate an employee’s eligibility for promotion.
In Argonne’s Career Framework, there are multiple steps within a career structure and career role based on five common factors: Scope/Knowledge, Problem Complexity, Freedom to Act, Impact, and Interaction. The following documents provide, by career structure, detail about how each factor is expressed differently for different career levels.
