- Coherent Diffraction Working Group
- This group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at noon. Those interested in recent developments in coherent x-ray techniques, both X-ray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS) and Coherent Diffractive Imaging (CDI), are encouraged to join the discussions. To subscribe to the email list regarding this interest group, please visit https://mailman.aps.anl.gov/mailman/listinfo/cdiwg.
- High-energy X-ray Special Interest Group (HEX-SIG)
- Jonathan Almer, APS
- The focus of this SIG is on current and future beamlines operating above ~30 keV, with goals of exchanging ideas and latest achievements among the beamlines and encouraging common projects and developments. The group meets monthly on the first Monday.
- High Pressure
- Jesse Smith, HP-CAT
- Ercan Alp, APS
- Vitali Prakapenka, GSECARS
- The high-pressure group promotes awareness of the high-pressure research activities and associated facilities at the APS and elsewhere. This group meets on the third Monday of every month from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm virtually.
- Soft Matter
- Binhua Lin, University of Chicago, or Jin Wang, APS
- The Soft Matter group promotes awareness of the Soft Matter research activities at the APS and elsewhere. This group meets on the second Monday of each month from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the LOM 434 conference room.
- Small Angle Scattering
- Mrinal Bera, University of Chicago, or Pete Jemian, APS
- This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at noon in LOM 433 conference room to promote awareness of the small-angle scattering facilities at the APS and elsewhere on the Argonne campus. The group maintains an email distribution list to foster communications among the various research groups.
- Surface and Interface Scattering
- Zhan Zhang, APS
- The surface and interface scattering group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at noon in the LOM 438 conference room to promote awareness of surface and interface scattering science and facilities at the APS. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
- Ultrafast
- Burak Guzelturk and Insik Kim, XSD
- This group is organized on the theme of "science and techniques that use the pulsed structure of the APS to study time-resolved phenomenon from a few picoseconds to microseconds." Seminars are held virtually and announced via the Aps_resident_users mail list.
- Vibration and Environmental Stability Interest Group (VES)
- Steven Kearney and Sunil Bean, APS
- The primary focus of VES is to develop vibrational awareness, expertise, best practices, and tailored solutions for specific issues here at the APS. Secondary topics will include environmental (temperature, acoustics, etc.) stability. Part of the meeting will comprise an exchange of ideas or current problems in an open forum. Anyone interested in these topics are encouraged to attend. VES meets at 10:00 am on the fourth Thursday of every month in 401, A1100.
- X-ray Spectroscopy
- Chengjun Sun and Yongseong Choi, APS
- Meetings are held 11:00 am to 11:50 am on the second Wednesday of each month in LOM 434, C010 conference room. Those interested in recent developments in X-ray Spectroscopy, both scientific research and technique/beamline/ facilities development, are encouraged to join the discussions.
