The last version of the MAPS software to view X-ray fluorescence data acquired with the Microscopy X-ray microprobes is available as a zip file. The software is written in IDL, a programming language that is well suited to image processing and visualization, and is available across platforms (MS Windows, Mac, Unix). IDL is available from the parent company as a full developer version as well as a run time version (IDL virtual machine). The latter does not require a full paid license. Before downloading, please be aware that this is not an 'official' software package, and it is no longer being maintained. The software is provided 'as is', without any kind of warranty whatsoever. There is no guarantee MAPS will work, nor is the program bug-free. To the best of our knowledge this package is virus free, but one should never fully trust 'things' downloaded over the net. In collaboration with the XSD-SDM Group, a new program called XRF-Maps is being developed to eventually replace IDL MAPS.
