Abstract:

The installation of the helical superconducting undulator (HSCU), developed by ASD, is planned for the 7ID beamline in the December 2017/January 2018 shutdown.  This source promises to deliver elliptically polarized x rays with a much higher total and coherent flux than from a standard APS Undulator A, contained in a single harmonic.

In anticipation of the availability of the HSCU next year, we are hosting a mini-workshop to discuss potential first experiments.   Please join us with your ideas, as a variety of speakers give short presentations describing the construction and radiation properties of the HSCU, and also a variety of potential first experiments.  The goal of this workshop is to develop plans for characterizing this unique source and identify the most promising first experiments to be performed
