John Quintana has been selected by the interview committee to be Argonne’s Photon Sciences (PSC) directorate deputy associate laboratory director (DALD) for operations effective August 14, 2023.

Since November 2022, John has served as PSC’s interim DALD for operations. Prior to then, John led PSC’s Mission Readiness Group, spearheading the efforts needed to ensure the Advanced Photon Source (APS) facility is ready to come back online promptly after the APS Upgrade project is complete. John will continue this work as part of his DALD for operations responsibilities.

John’s contributions to the APS and Argonne extend more than a decade. He served as a senior advisor to the former Energy and Global Security (EGS) directorate and was an APS Engineering Support Division (AES) associate division director, where he was responsible for the groups performing mechanical engineering design and mechanical maintenance, as well as radiation and experimental safety. John also has served as Argonne’s deputy chief operations officer.

John's extensive knowledge and background will continue to serve Argonne, PSC and the APS well.
